CURRENT ASPECTS OF IMPROVING PRIMARY HEALTH CARE. REVIEW.
Topicality. Primary health care is characterized as integrated, affordable medical services that are responsible for meeting the vast majority of individual health needs, establishing stable partnerships with patients and practicing in family and community settings. These and other basic definitions of primary medical care do not define the type of doctor, but relate to a set of basic functions that provide first aid in the healthcare system, namely: accessibility, continuity, universality and compatibility. Legislative reform, technological evolution, changing public expectations and changing pressure on spending have become the basis for accelerating changes in the healthcare system. Improving primary care requires a clear approach and deep changes.
Objective. To analyze the literature data on the improvement of primary health care abroad.
Search strategy. The study examined full-text publications in English and Russian, which are devoted to improving primary health care in foreign countries. In the process of literature search, the following search engines were used: Pubmed, Web of science, Cyberleninka, Google Scholar by keywords. The time period was designated 2012-2022. 1290 publications have been identified on this topic. Of these, 41 publications corresponded to the purpose of our study.
Inclusion criteria: Publications of the level of evidence A, B: meta-analyses, systematic reviews, cohort and cross-sectional studies.
Exclusion criteria: summary reports, newspaper articles and personal messages.
Results and conclusions. The improvement of primary health care should be based on the principle that all people should receive primary health care in a fair, accessible form. The primary care team is the patient's first point of contact with the healthcare system, which is supported by a long-term relationship that ensures continuity and is aimed at providing active medical care to a person (not a disease).
